END OF THE YEAR FEELS

We have two and a half weeks left of school. I’ve accomplished things, and i haven’t accomplished things. At the end of the year, i guess I needed to learn to put my best effort forward. At the end of the year I noticed that I stop putting my effort forward because it’s almost over. Ive had a lot of fun memories, and a lot of bad ones. Can’t wait to see what 7th grade brings.

MAP TESTING

I don’t like tests. I don’t like PARCC, and I especially don’t like MAP. MAP gives you a score at the end of your lesson. PARCC doesn’t. That score effects you, your classes, and your grades. It’s MAP season where we take three tests grading us on different standards, and classes. Tomorrow will be the first day to kick off MAP testing.

3 POSITIVES OF THIS WEEK

As many of you know, MAP testing is this week. There are many negatives and positives to testing. One example is our schedules are messed up. Classes our moved around. Another example similar to classes being messed up is classes are shorter. Sometimes they’re cut down by 10, 20 or even 30 minutes. The final example is MAP is only for three days, compared to PARCC which lasted a lot longer.

GREEK DAY

Last week Thursday (depending on which day you have social studies)there was a fun event during social studies, Greek Day. We got to participate in Greek activities and try an assortment of Greek foods. Students were separated by city-states. For example, you could’ve either been in Thebes, Troy, Sparta, Athens, and more. For the first hour or so you trade your items that you made in the “Agora”. Similar to a market. Different city states would be able to trade/ sell handmade items for tickets. After that, you would participate in the Olympics. Discus, dash, chariot ride, and more were the games held. After all of that we had all worked up an appetite, so we came inside to our classrooms and ate Greek food while watching Hercules.

FIND A POEM

The poem I found is “A new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book. Waiting to be written” by Melody Beattie. I think it’s all about starting fresh. Getting rid of negativity and starting over. Many people believe in the saying “New Year, New Me” maybe that’s what she means. It’s a new year which is a chance to start over on a clean slate.
